July News from the Kitchen

Hellloooo! I hope that you are enjoying these early days of summer. I will admit that some nights by 10:00 I’m cursing the light sky – there are no curtains dark or heavy enough to convince my children that it is night and time to sleep. On the flip side, I remember feeding my groggy children breakfast in the wintertime, staring at pitch blackness outside the window. One dark morning my husband convinced our 5 year-old that it was, in fact, the middle of the night. So we must celebrate these long, long days.
Our Summer Slacker Schedule means that there will only be two Panacea dinners in July: the first will be the week of July 11 and the second will be the week of July 25. The menu for the first dinner will be announced next Thursday, July 7.
Since Panacea has cut back on cooking time for the summer I can spend more time plotting and scheming. Picture me, sitting at my kitchen table, rubbing my hands together with glee. Here’s the latest from Panacea. As always, thanks so much for your interest in what we’re doing! We continue to have a blast.
Hello, North Seattle
The biggest news is that we will now be delivering to Seattle neighborhoods north of Montlake. It’s about time, right? In order to do this, we’re adjusting our schedule a bit. We’re still cooking one fine meal each week, plus Provisions for the freezer. We’ll be cooking on Sunday, Monday & Tuesday, and delivering on Monday & Tuesday. Our Monday delivery route will be the same as it has been, and we’ll deliver to our new friends up north on Tuesday. There will also be new pick-up spots on the north end. Here’s how it breaks down by zip code:
Monday Delivery: 98102, 98108, 98118, 98122, 98144
Tuesday Delivery: 98103, 98105, 98115, 98145, 98185, 98195
If you know anyone north of the ship canal, please help us spread the good word of Panacea. I know there are hungry mouths to feed up there, and we are the people for the job. Folks in the western parts of the city, like Queen Anne and Magnolia, and Downtown – sit tight! We’re coming your way soon.
Goodbye, Columbia City Farmers Market
As the summer season heats up, the market needs to make room for farmers whose crops are coming in. So, last Wednesday was our last week at the market for this year. We may make an appearance again next spring – it was a lot of fun being there, and our Provisions were a hit. Bacon jam samples brought smiles to so many faces, it was a beautiful thing. Meanwhile, Provisions will still be available for delivery or pick-up through our weekly menu email. And I will be able to join the happy crowds, sitting on the lawn, eating awesome Thai food for dinner (Shophouse, yum).
Have a very happy 4th of July – I hope it involves a barbeque and sticky sweet desserts! You’ll hear from us again next week.
